UMSI scholarships
The University of Michigan School of Information offers merit-based, need-informed scholarships to incoming MHI students.
Scholarship awards range from partial to full tuition, for up to four semesters of full-time MHI coursework.
How do I apply for UMSI scholarships?
All MHI applicants are automatically considered for UMSI scholarships as part of the admissions process. There is no separate scholarship application.
Apply by the Jan. 15 priority deadline to receive first consideration for UMSI scholarships. Scholarship offers are made on a rolling basis. For MHI applicants, first-round offers are included in the admissions letter, with subsequent rounds communicated separately.
What are the scholarship criteria?
UMSI scholarships are awarded through a holistic review of your application materials. While merit is the primary factor in award decisions, we may also consider your motivation to attend UMSI and level of financial need.
The scholarship review includes:
- The strength of your statement of purpose and personal statement
- Letters of recommendation
- Relevant internship, research or work experience
- Academic record
- Evidence of leadership and/or service
- Demonstrated qualities we value at UMSI, including creative problem-solving and comfort with ambiguity
