Thousands of unlicensed restaurateurs have sprung up throughout the country and have found success selling their home cooking through an unexpected platform: Facebook Marketplace.

University of Michigan School of Information professor Cliff Lampe, an expert on social media, says “selling food is part of a newer trend.” 

“It’s not something that you saw on Marketplace five years ago.”
