Lampe lauds Facebook’s removal of misinformation account network
A network of German accounts that worked together to spread COVID-19 misinformation and encourage violence was targeted for deletion in Facebook’s new “coordinated social harm” policy. Nearly 150 pages, accounts and groups associated with the Querdenken movement were removed from the social media platform in September.
University of Michigan School of Information Professor Cliff Lampe tells ABC News that Facebook’s new policy could indicate a change in the company’s ability to reduce harmful speech.
