Teasley elected as SoLAR leader
UMSI research professor Stephanie Teasley will be the next president of the Society for Learning Analytics Research, or SoLAR.
SoLAR connects top international researchers from across disciplines to explore how analytics affects teaching, learning, development and training. The group aims to promote learning analytics research and resource development and to raise the field’s profile among policymakers.
Teasley will assume the presidency at the society’s annual general meeting at the 2017 International Conference on Learning Analytics & Knowledge (LAK). Her term will last two years, with possible renewal for one additional term.
She currently serves as the organization’s membership chair and is program co-chair of SoLAR’s 2016 Learning Analytics Summer Institute (LASI), which will be held this year in Ann Arbor. She also directs the Learning, Education & Design (LED) Lab at U-M Digital Education & Innovation.
As SoLAR president, Teasley will oversee work on a number of fronts, including the annual LAK conference held in conjunction with ACM; LASI; collaboration and research initiatives; the Journal of Learning Analytics; and other projects.
She will replace the current president, Dragan Gašević of Athabasca University in Canada.
