Michigan Housing Honored Instructor Recognition. Cliff Lampe, professor. Colleen van Lent, Lecturer IV.

Monday, 05/08/2023

University of Michigan professor of information Cliff Lampe and lecturer Colleen van Lent have earned honored instructor recognition by Michigan Housing

The award recognizes instructors who have made a positive impact on undergraduate students.

Student Stella Theaker nominated Lampe. In her nomination letter, she says Lampe showed exceptional care for students.

“Professor Lampe is very engaging, witty, and passionate,” she says. “I can tell he loves his job and field and it’s really contagious. More than that, I always felt like he cared about us students first and foremost and genuinely wanted us to learn and explore, rather than focus on a letter grade.”

Student Vaiva Raisys nominated van Lent, citing her willingness to go above and beyond to ensure students mastered classroom topics. Raisys took van Lent’s introduction to programming course.

"Colleen makes sure everyone has the opportunity to understand complex concepts and genuinely cares about her students,” Raisys says.

The awards give residential students an opportunity to honor instructors who’ve had an impact on their student journey. Instructors are invited to an in-person recognition ceremony.
