Banned Books Week: Free Little Libraries & Online Discussion
Don’t have anything to read for Banned Books Week? Organizational Culture and Community (OCC) has you covered!
Head over to a free Little Library on campus to choose from a selection of books that have been challenged in the United States. When you are done reading, you can choose to keep the book, or return it to a free Little Library and grab a new title to explore!
Each of the four Little Library locations will have a slightly different selection of books you can choose from, and we will restock the libraries periodically over the week. You are also welcome to donate any books (banned or not) that you would like to share with the UMSI community.
Little Library Locations
- UMSI Collegian (333 Maynard St., Fifth floor, above Aveda Institute)
- UMSI Central (above Panera, 777 N. University)
- Leinweber 2nd Floor, in front of the UMSI Student Center (Suite 2260)
- Leinweber 4th Floor, in the faculty, staff, and doctoral student lounge
Not on campus, or prefer to read digitally? You can borrow a digital copy of a book that has been challenged by visiting the U-M Library Overdrive collection of banned books.
Whether you read with us virtually or in person, tell us about your favorite banned book on Padlet. You can share a quick testimony about a banned book you enjoyed, or go searching for your next read with recommendations from the UMSI Community!
Share your favorite banned books on our discussion board!
