Green: Communities are growing more skeptical of AI infrastructure projects

By Noor HindiAs tech companies race to build data centers to power artificial intelligence, communities are pushing back in an effort to preserve farmland and protect local resources.
For The Washington Post, University of Michigan School of Information assistant professor Ben Green, an expert on technology and urban governance, says public awareness and concern about data centers has grown rapidly.
“It feels like there’s been a real shift over the last six months or so in terms of the public just becoming aware of what data centers are,” Green says. “And becoming increasingly skeptical.”
