Rampton: Despite Trump funding cuts, electric vehicles are here to stay

Tuesday, 03/11/2025
By Noor HindiUnder President Joe Biden’s Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, billions of dollars in funding were being poured into incentivizing consumers to purchase electric vehicles, fund charging station installation and power manufacturing and supply chain programs.
Though the Trump administration is repealing these investments, University of Michigan School of Information lecturer Jim Rampton says the electric vehicle market will continue to grow in the United States.
Rampton, an expert on automotive UX, argues the global race for electric vehicles will encourage manufacturers to stay competitive in this area.
“I think EVs are definitely here to stay, and I think they definitely have a very, very strong future,” Rampton said. “It's just now more pressure we put on automakers to make that happen.”
