As artificial intelligence becomes an everyday part of life, UMSI associate professor Robin Brewer says older adults and their caregivers need better guidance on how to navigate chatbot technologies safely.

In an article on AARP.com, Brewer emphasizes the importance of not using the chatbot as a replacement for meaningful human connection.

“I think the important part is not using the chatbot in isolation and ensuring that [the person using the chatbot] has some social interaction with another human,” she says.
