Booklist lauds series edited by UMSI educator

A book series conceived and edited by UMSI clinical assistant professor Kristin Fontichiaro has been named to the Top Ten Series Youth Nonfiction for 2014 by Booklist, a book-review magazine of the American Library Association.

Reviewer Daniel Kraus cites the Makers as Innovators series as one that “many librarians need as much as their readers. Digging into such newfangled topics as maker faires, 3-D printing, and digital badges, the volumes in this cutting-edge series communicate a level of energy that elevates the challenging material into need-to-know-right-now stuff.

The books, which are published by Cherry Lake Publishing, are designed for students in grades 4-7. Many of the authors are UMSI faculty, students and graduates.
