Volunteer and engagement opportunities

Volunteering is a great way to stay connected with UMSI, fellow alumni, and current students!

Connect with students:

  • Connect with prospective students to answer questions about UMSI - Contact the Office of Academic and Student Affairs ( for more information.

  • Engage with and mentor students in the Master of Applied Data Science (MADS) online degree program - Contact Lily Wang ( for more information.

  • Join the UMSI Mentorship Program to engage with students through short-term engagements (e.g. participating on a panel or hosting students through the Career Insider program), or longer-term engagements (e.g. internship or project mentorship for programs like Design Clinic or Citizen Interaction Design) - Contact for more information or complete the interest form at

  • Recruit current UMSI students for internships and jobs at your organization. Create a recruiting presence by participating in career fairs, design jams, and panels - Visit the Career Development Office or email with interest or questions.

  • Engage with UMSI students through client-based courses, volunteer programs such as Alternative Spring Break, student project mentorship, skill development workshops, and more - Visit the Engaged Learning Office or email with interest or questions.
