Volunteer and engagement opportunities

Volunteering is a great way to stay connected with UMSI, fellow alumni, and current students!

Connect with students:

  • Recruit prospective students - Contact the Office of Academic and Student Affairs ( for more information.

  • Engage with and mentor students in the Master of Applied Data Science (MADS) online degree program - Contact Lily Wang ( for more information.

  • Mentor students through the UMSI Network - Contact Mike Williams ( for more information.

  • Alumni are invited to recruit current UMSI students for internship and permanent openings in their organizations. In addition to being able to post positions in iTrack, our online job database for UMSI students, alumni have many other attractive options for creating a recruiting presence both on and off campus. These include participating in career fairs, design jams, panels and information sessions, or hosting students for Alternative Spring Break. Our Career Development Office can create a customized plan to meet your needs.   • Alumni have a variety of ways to interact with students through opportunities offered by the Engaged Learning Office. You can engage with students and student teams through client-based courses and volunteer programs such as Alternative Spring Break, be a project mentor to students working on consulting or community engagement projects or facilitate a skill development workshop. Alumni interested in submitting a project idea for any ELO program can visit Alumni interested in mentoring students on projects can sign up at Email with interest or questions.
