Biography

Abby McFee is a writer and editor with a mission-driven approach to storytelling. As a marketing and communications writer at UMSI, she crafts news and feature stories that capture the UMSI student experience. Previously, she served as assistant director of undergraduate admissions at Tufts University, where she led the production of Jumbo Magazine and developed communications efforts to expand access to rural and low-income students who were less likely to visit campus.

Her passion for removing barriers to accessing higher education is both professional and personal — Abby comes from a small town in Nebraska and attended college on full financial aid. Her professional background includes freelance writing for nonprofit organizations and universities, and teaching both academic and creative writing. She earned her MFA in poetry from the University of Michigan and is at work on her first collection of poems. Ask her about her cat, Marigold.
