The University of Michigan School of Information celebrates the excellence of its staff with two annual awards. 

The Outstanding Staff award is given to a UMSI staff member who contributes in an exceptional way to advancing UMSI’s mission. Candidates may include staff who:

• Excel in work performance
• Regularly exhibit a willingness to help others, above and beyond normal duties
• Exhibit unusually strong commitment, dependability or reliability in their work
• Demonstrate unusual ability to problem solve or effectively manage change
• Establish and maintain positive and effective working relations with internal and external customers
• Build collaborative and cooperative partnerships with other colleagues

The Peer-to-Peer award honors a staff member whose efforts are commendable in service to other staff or to the work environment at UMSI. Candidates may include staff who:

• Take positive steps to create a culture and climate of respect and inclusion for a diverse and collaborative workplace
• Facilitate the success of others, either through supervision, team work, or extending extra help
• Help to inspire, support, and motivate fellow colleagues
• May offer creative solutions to issues or use new tools that result in more effective and efficient operations
