Faces of UMSI: Sarah Wingo
Archives and Records Management/Preservation of Information
With an undergraduate degree in theatre history from Albion College and a master’s degree in English from the University of Birmingham’s Shakespeare Institute in Stratford upon Avon, Sarah Wingo found the perfect Alternative Spring Break experience as an intern with the Folger Shakespeare Library. She calls the posting “a dream come true.” In addition to helping catalog the post-1700 Shakespeare Book Collection, Sarah was a guest blogger for the Folger and also documented her experiences on her personal blog.
An active member of the student team that volunteered to raise money for the ASB program, Sarah brought in over $1100 in contributions.
A love of literature characterized all her employment prior to enrolling in UMSI, from teaching reading to working part-time at Borders Bookstore. Her 2012 summer internship at the University of Michigan Library was spent developing workshops to help graduate students and faculty preserve their research and intellectual output using digital tools.
