Kenlee Ray retired from the World Bank as a Senior Information Officer and has a background in library/information management that covers 40 years. She was the first law librarian of the World Bank and served as Head of Reference for the joint Bank/Fund Library and Chief of the Division Chief of the Records Management Division in the Bank’s Corporate Secretariat.  

Kenlee is a life-time member of the Special Libraries Association and held several offices at the national and local level. The Association named her the recipient of the Membership Achievement Award and the DC Chapter of SLA gave her the Board of Directors’ Award.  

She continues her involvement in ICR4D and grassroots libraries and is a member of the Advisory Board for the Lubuto Library Partners, which builds and manages grassroots libraries in Zambia. She has volunteered in rural libraries in Zambia and Zimbabwe. Her most unusual volunteer experience to date has been driving a donkey-powered bookmobile in rural Zimbabwe. She is also active in civic groups in Washington, D.C. engaged in preservation/zoning issues and “aging in place.”   

Kenlee holds an AMLS in Library/Information Science and a BA in Social Studies from the University of Michigan. She also completed a Certificate in Records and Information Management from George Washington University. 

In 2008 she received a Distinguished Alumni award from UMSI and has also served as a member of the school’s External Advisory Board and Victor’s for Michigan Campaign council.  A meeting room in North Quad is named in her honor.
